On our way home from the covered bridge ride last Tuesday Troubadour asked if I wanted to take a quick run up to the city overlook. Not a favorite road of mine as it is short, steep, and very twisty up and down through a residential neighborhood, but the view is worth it.

I was hoping to go for a ride this weekend but forces have conspired against us to keep us off the bikes and in the car. Oh well, no rain in sight so maybe next weekend.

Very nice. The weather has turned against me here too. Snow on the ground again this morning. I know it won't last but it seem way too early for it!
ReplyDeleteYikes....snow on the ground. We had to turn the pellet stove on tonight but at least it was almost 70 today.

ReplyDeletewhile today feels warm, last week I had frost on my windshield. It gets cool at night now, and forecast is for colder next week.
go for a ride when you can. Our days are numbered

So far we haven't had any frost in Corvallis but it has been a little chilly some mornings.
DeleteWow, those are magnificent skies! Love the definition of the clouds - what sort of camera do you use?
ReplyDeleteP.S Sorry about posts, internet keeps tripping in and out!
Thanks Geoff and no worries about the deleted comments. I accidentally get those on other blogs too. I just deleted them for you.
DeleteThe camera I use is a Canon HS300 recommended by Bobskoot. He is the camera Guru.
I used to drive my little car to the top of some tall place, some neighborhood in Corvallis where it was always solid fog whenever fog came thru. I just had to have the thrill of driving in that up there. I wonder if that is where you are here. We will never know. I have no idea where it was exactly and it was many, many years ago. I'm lucky to have survived that nonsense. Made me a better driver, tho. :^ )
ReplyDeleteit would be a spooky drive in the fog. I wonder if you were in town or were a little west and climbing up Mary's Peak?
DeleteThere's that blue sky! Stunning views Brandy, definately worth it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brenda. We don't go up there very often.
DeleteNice pictures form the overlook. The only overlook I've been to down there required you to kike up the hill. It looks like you are enjoying the wonderful Fall weather.
ReplyDeleteIf you go up North on Highland beyond the high school then turn left (west) when you get to Lewisburg Rd and keep going until the end (I mean top) you are at the overlook.
DeleteQuite the view! Lovely skies and no smog. And it is a Daft Punk come hither look. ;)
ReplyDeleteNo smog but we could see a little haze from the forest fires in Eastern Oregon.
DeleteB-E-A-utiful scenery! I'm hoping to get out a few more times before our Minnesota weather goes arctic. I know those longing looks ... >wink<
ReplyDeleteNo arctic weather allowed. have you told Mother Nature this yet? Don't think it would work, but worth a try.
DeleteBrilliant skies and a great view. Looks like the steep and twisty climb up paid off.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sonja.
DeleteGreat view! Sorry to hear you are car-bound. Hope you get out soon!
ReplyDeleteWe were only car bound for the weekend. We went to visit a family member who is really sick and it was 550 miles away. Much easier to do in the car especially when tired.
DeleteI'll be car bound this weekend, too. But, it is because Heather and I are doing a little road trip. Sometimes it is just the best way to go.
ReplyDelete~k
I agree, sometimes the car is so much easier especially for long distances. For us it takes the same amount of gas to take the Subaru as it does both bikes and we don't have to stop as much.
DeleteHave fun on your road trip.
Short, steep, and twisty. Sounds just like the kind of road I try to avoid.
ReplyDeleteThe view is definitely nice! Worth the risk me thinks! :)
I hope you didn't miss the last of our sunshine this year! This weekend is looking, well like the 'real fall' will arrive after all.
Yeah, it is one of those roads, but the view is nice and there is a big turn around at the top for taking pictures. And for going down, I just put it in 2nd gear and away I went.
DeleteWe still have today and tomorrow with sunshine and you never know how long the rains will last - a week or a month or three, lol. I don't mind riding in inclement weather, just don't really like starting out in the rain.
No such thing as bad weather, so says my Canadian half; just the wrong attire;)
DeleteI used to think that when we lived in Canada. Now I have become a weather weenie living in Oregon.
DeleteNice ride! Nice overlook too. I type this in The Lake District, Cumbria, UK, where they also have lovely views - although in the town I'm sipping a latte in (LATTE??? Thats a milky coffee to any cave folk reading this) everyone looks thoroughly miserable :(
ReplyDeleteMmmm latte. That is one of the best destination rides - riding for lattes, of course mine is a soy latte but still yummy.
