Our Own March Madness

If the media has anything to do with it, when one thinks of March Madness, they usually think of basketball and NCAA Championships. Unless of course you are a history buff and March Madness has you thinking of the death of Julius Caesar. I think Brutus and Cassius might have had a little madness on the brain that particular Ides of March.

I discovered this last week when looking back at our transportation purchases over the last few years that we too suffer from a type of March Madness.

This year in March we purchased my 2009 Suzuki TU 250x.

In March 2008 we purchased Troubadour's 2007 Triumph Bonneville America.

And in March 2007 we purchased our 2007 Nissan Versa.

So what is it about March that 'fuels' our purchasing? I don't rightly know. Maybe after a chilly winter we are excited to get out and wander around the dealerships. Maybe after a cold winter the dealers all have really good sale prices or low interest rates. Whatever the reason I think we'd best duck and cover this time next year.

I can't wait for next March when Troubadour trades his Triumph in, wonder what it will be ? what happened to 2008 ? or was it deferred because of a double 2007 purchase

    Happy riding

  2. Perhaps a March Madness poll would be in order!

  3. Don't forget the Triumph Sprint ST, March 3rd, 2007.

...and the America isn't going anywhere soon, like Lance said "The America is a keeper as far as I am concerned - I may include other bikes in the garage, but they will be in addition to, not as a replacement for, this bike."

  4. Bobskoot - technically it was March 2009 that we didn't buy something. We bought the Sprint ST and Versa in 2007, the Versa in 2008 and the TU this year. In January of 2009 we did a total kitchen remodel so that tapped the finances. No fun toys that year. Although I do enjoy the kitchen.

We'll see what next year brings and if Troubadour gets the itch to add something to the stable.

  5. Ron and I used to get spring fever every year. Old Camaros and Mustangs were our objects of lust back then. I think after a "project" car or two we were cured, or maybe we just traded 4-wheel lusting for 2-wheel lusting. Springtime can be dangerous! :)
