Goodbye Summer

.
Goodbye Summer, we enjoyed you while you lasted.

Not sure where the warm dry weather has gone, but it sure didn't stick around long. Maybe it headed East. I hear they are having droughts and heat waves in that direction. It seems that Mother Nature is a bit bipolar the last few months. I really think it is time for her to up her medication and become more stable. I'd like a summer this year.

Not much to blog about as we haven't been doing much except working. No riding on two wheels as we wait for Troubadour to recover. We are hoping that tomorrow the surgeon will clear him for take off.

The rain has returned. Not as bad as it was in Spring but still makes us all a little grumpy and moping around like sad pandas. The one good thing about the rain returning is that we don't have to water the yard.

We haven't taken many pictures lately. We are still researching cameras and haven't actually purchased another yet.

Basil has decided he doesn't like the rain either. Rather than go outside he prefers to lay on the area rug between the coffee table and sofa and hide his eyes to block it all out. I'm inclined to agree with him.

Right now the weather is about 20˚F below our average. It is 61˚ out there now and we are used to over 80˚ at this time of year. The weather man says the warm dry weather will return by the end of the week. I won't hold my breath.... move over Basil, I think I'll join you.

  1. I feel exactly the same way like a sad panda. This weather is a soul destroyer and seems to make everyone feel sad and listless. I am 2 weeks away from vacation and am praying for some sunshine. I certainly don't know what we have done to tick off Mother Nature, but I am tired of her weather PMS. I went out on my scoot yesterday in the varying shades of grey and between the raindrops. The humidity is irksome as well, you don't know how to dress its either too much or too little. Hope Troubadour is on the mend so you both can get some riding in. Happy un-summer.

  2. Would happily share a few of our degrees with you. We, too, have had lots of rain. Last Tuesday we had a storm with winds so strong that it blew my bike over. Now, it is hot--triple digits hot. Sorry, this riding season has gone as you hoped. I admit I, too, had hoped for you lots of miles on your new bike. Oh well, the weather may surprise you yet.

  3. Here's to hoping that winter will see you 20 degrees over normal to get some of those riding days back. :) I agree with Squire Basil. Take a nap and ignore the weather. Hopes for a speedy recovery for Troubadour and Mother Nature.

  4. Dar nailed it. The weather here at the Pacific wet coast has been ridiculous lately, although I lucked out this morning, not getting wet for a change. Yesterday I got rained on twice! Hope that Mother Nature has some mercy with us poor riders.

Speedy recovery for hubby! And Squire Basil does exactly the right thing. If it wasn't for work, I would have joined him instantly.

  5. The weather has been nuts the whole world over. we've had torrential rain and high winds for a fortnight. Yesterday was the first sunny day for ages and bikes were out in force everywhere.

Best regards to Squire Basil from our furry friends - they agree it's the best solution by far!

  6. Sorry to hear you have the weather blues. I am in Spain where it is super sunny and we have a five day ride ahead to take us back north where I hear the weather is foul at home in London. I hope yours gets better soon and that Basil, Troubadour and you soon get back to normal.

  9. @Dar - Troubadour has been cleared so we are hoping to be on the bikes today. The rain has stopped. Pretty windy out there and it isn't quite sunny. I guess that is a good thing though as it won't be too hot for riding.

@CircleBlue - I am sorry for your heat wave. Your temperatures in the mid-west and back east are ridiculous. I guess I really shouldn't complain about rain.

@BeemerGirl - The weather is a changing. Rumor has it we'll see high 80's on Saturday and Sunday. We'll see.

@Sonja - you are so good about riding in all kinds of weather. Sad when it is a treat to not get rained on.

@Geoff - my sympathies for your weather. Call it climate change, call it global warming, either way our weather is not what it used to be and is more extreme.

@Gary - it is hard for me to feel sorry for your crappy London weather when you are tooling around Spain in the sunshine :-). Although I am happy for you that you are always able to go out for amazing rides and travel so much.

@Raftnn - His name is Squire Basil. We found him for our other cat Sir Baxter (RIP). What knight doesn't need a Squire?

@Nikos - Basil says thanks for the tummy rub. Mmm tummy rubs. Hope your rain ends soon!!
