Take Max to Work Day

.
This morning at the last minute I decided to ride Max to work.

Tonight was Albany Bike Night and I thought it would be nice to ride out and meet Troubadour after work and ride over together.

I arrived at work only to realize that my work keys were in the car.... at home in the driveway. Doh!

Note to self, if you are going to ride to work at the last minute, grab your damn keys out of the car. I keep the car and house keys on a separate key ring from the work and mailbox keys.

Luckily I only had to wait about 15 minutes since I knew my boss had to be at work by 8 am.

So, I took off my helmet and gloves, unzipped the jacket and waited. I kept the jacket and riding pants on though for warmth as it was 48˚ F this morning. I know that sounds tropical compared to the temperatures some bloggers are experiencing right now.

The wait gave me a chance to take a few pictures of where I park when I ride to work. Bear in mind there is usually a huge Tacoma Tundra parked to the left.

It isn't glamorous, but it is right outside the back door to the office. The windows on each side of the door are the attorney's offices.

  1. Very envious, thank you! We really need colder weather now as the roads are barely drive able on four wheels let alone two. It's nice that you have parking right outside your office. Hope you had a great ride to bike night.

  2. Trobairitz - I rode Lucy to work today and she is parked in the bike cage patiently waiting my return. If it's raining tomorrow I am taking my scooter. Good that you have windows to check on Max.

  3. Trobairitz:

for such a detailed oriented person who never forgets anything, I find it hard to believe that you would purposely forget your office keys. Lucky it wasn't the other way around where you arrived home late on a Friday to discover your house keys locked at work along with your house and car keys and the boss was away until Tuesday.

Not many of us can look out our windows and stare at our bikes

  4. The incident with the keys happen to me the other way round. My office keys are on my Vespa key chain, so when I take the car... guess what happens. Last time I had to wait 20 mins before another colleague showed up. Max looks so good!

  5. Riding to work is nearly always fun, even if the place you arrive at isn't glamourous. The journey getting you there puts a smile on tour face anyway.

  6. Good stuff Trobairitz!
Do you get positive comments turning up on the bike? I had a car park next to our CEO's and on the odd occasion I turned up on the bike, I got nothing but positive comments. It was almost as if it added another dimension to a faceless corporate!!

  7. I think one of the hardest things about commuting by bike is getting the organization down for all the gear, and all the things that have to come along for the ride.

I struggle to remember where little things were put in which pocket or bag, but my biggest problem seems to be my driver's license being left in the bike jacket. I'll discover this far from home when I'm driving the car.

Good on ya, getting a commute in! Max looks good parked next to the old brick wall. Not insulting your building, btw, I think you know by now I love old buildings with character. :)

  8. @Richard - I hope you get the cooler weather you need for your roads. The ride to bike night was great, but the ride home in the dark took longer than expected due to road construction.

@Dar - Those darn windows are so high I would have to stand on the boss' desk to see Max. I can see out further into the parking lot but by parking under the window I can't see the bike.

@Bobskoot - Yes, I occasionally forget things. I remembered the details about where I left the keys, does that count? If I lock myself out of the house I can punch in a code on the garage opener keypad and get in that way.

@Sonja - You had a longer wait that I did. Darn keys being left behind. Hope the weather was nice while you waited.

@Gary - The whopping 3 mile commute was trouble free and it was good to ride it. I might even commute on Max more than I thought I would.

@Geoff - I did get positive comments. The other attorney in our office wants to ride it. He rode my Ninja but didn't really like it. I think he'd like Max. He doesn't own a bike, just the giant truck that parks beside me. The lady that owns the Mexican restaurant next door also commented on it as I was getting geared up to go meet Troubadour. People really like the colors.

@Bluekat - Not good to leave your license at home. I always take my wallet out of my pocket, but I did leave my cell phone in my riding jacket Wednesday night and found it the next evening. Good thing I don't use it very often. My boss is proud of that old brick wall. The building is really old and the basement was dug out by hand and the dirt hauled out with horse and buggy. It has quite a history and has been in my boss' family for 3 generations.
