Halloween & Bikes

Today is Halloween, and being someone who isn't much for any holiday commercial or otherwise we don't do much except go for a walk through the neighborhood in the evening to see what people are up to and shake our heads at the antics.

I do want to share two photos with you though.  I can't take credit for either, but seeing as how they are both motorcycle and Halloween related I wanted to post them today.

Little Bunny FuFu from Cornelius, Oregon was selected as the winner of PetSmart's annual Monster Cute Photo Contest Powered by GREENIES®.  He bested more than 12,500 entries for the $10,000 grand prize.  Photo courtesy of Business Wire

Have a great day everyone and beware of ghosties, goblins, bunnies on bad motor scooters, and Hondas wearing tutus.

we are in an established area with few families, and there are only houses on one side of our street on a double block, so we don't get many tricksters. Last year we got 2, and the year before about 6. I buy a big pile of stuff that I like and hope I don't have to give too many away. This year we have bags of potato chips. Last year we gave away tins of pop.

I think the focus is more towards THE MALL where merchants give candy away, or community centres where they have Hallowe'en activites. It's dangerous now to accept candy which may have harmful things hidden inside.

    1. We tried to give out Halloween candy a few years ago and only one family showed up. Mom drove up in a mini van, kids got out to get candy, mom drove them on to the next place. We gave up after that. They have a big whoop-a-dee-do downtown for the kids and then families drive their kids to the richer neighborhoods to score the 'good candy'. It isn't like it used to be when we were kids.

I had our light on, it was pouring rain, and we didn't have anyone show up. We still have 5 cases of Lays potato chips, if they are Vegan then come on over and pick up a box.

perhaps it is the construction debris. Our walkway is dug up and lots of lumber lying around

    1. Honda's marketing is really different on that one.

It is for the ad campaign telling people not to put just anything on their Hondas, but to use genuine parts. In that respect, it works.

  3. We don't get many kids coming by since our porch light is motion activated. You actually have to come down our drive before it turns on and most kids not seeing a porch light on, don't bother. But even then, we'll go through 5# or so of candy.

    1. Wow, a long driveway in the dark and cold and you still have lots of kids. I am surprised.

  4. The Honda in a tutu reminds me of the Bat Girl cycle... A picture of it is posted here... http://goawaygarage.blogspot.com/2012/10/motorcycling-on-halloween.html
This will be our first Halloween at this house. We'll see how it goes. I don't think we'll get many kids, we're in the middle of no where.

    1. Wow, that Batgirl looks like it took a lot of work and planning. I think the Batgirl was more creative.

    1. I couldn't resist the bunny either. I thought it was cool that they were from Oregon too.

  6. It's still raining here so don't expect too many trick or treaters ... am handing out the candy by the pail-full to anyone who stops.
Honestly, that Honda, what was she thinking wearing a spandex top with her tutu ... shows the bumps and lumps in all the wrong places.

    1. Rain, rain and more rain here. Yesterday and this morning. We didn't really see many trick or treaters in the street (through the window) last night but it was rainy enough we never did go for our walk.

And I agree, that tutu isn't flattering at all.

  7. I love Little Bunny Fu Fu.

We had very few kids. Our house is sort of in a weird spot, on a very dark street with not a lot of sidewalks. This is our second Halloween here. Last year, I bought two bags of candy. The bag I used tonight was leftover from last year, and there's still about a third of it left. Yes, it's a big bag, but I was handing out handfuls. Now my tongue is sore from the leftover Nerds...

    1. At least you still get a few kids coming by. Funny that nerds make your tongue sore. I used to love sour gummy candies and they'd do the same thing.

  8. Brandy,

Fantastic!!! For a moment, I thought the second one was Roger on our recent Pink Ribbon Ride :-)

    1. Ha, now that's funny. Although I can see it on the Triumph. His Sprint would wear it well.

  11. Brandy, I've observed like many others that the world is divided between types of people. Adding to the list, those that enjoy dress-up, and those that don't. I guess you and I are in the 'don't' camp. Thanks for posting the sport bike in the tutu. Now there's an image that bridges worlds if ever there was one.

    1. Yes, I agree, there are all types of people in this world. If we were all the same I think it would get pretty boring.

I think Honda was onto something when they thought of that marketing campaign.
