I haven't been doing much riding lately, although I did ride to work once last week when Troubadour needed the car.
The only other riding I've done is to coffee and back Saturday morning. Last Saturday motorcycles managed to take over the entire front parking lot of Coffee Culture (all three spots). Usually there is at least one car or large SUV that squeezes in between but not so on Saturday.
Looks like a Triumph meeting doesn't it? Our friendly neighborhood mechanic and all around good guy Donn was working on the vintage Triumph in the center and left early to ride to Salem to meet the owner of the bike. The hole in the line up was then replaced by a Kawasaki Ninja 650 giving us a little more diversity.
The weather has finally cooled off so it is time to start thinking of a few day trips. We seem to do most of our riding in the fall and spring when the temperatures aren't in the 90's. Since going vegan 2 years ago we haven't been doing the 'ride to eat' rides we used to due to lack of vegan options (they seem to be in the Portland area). Might be time to take another look at HappyCow.net and see what we can find within a days ride.
Hope everyone else is out there riding and having fun.

1970 T100C?
ReplyDeleteThat I don't know for sure. I'll have to ask Donn the next time I see him. I heard something about the motor being a 500 or a 550, I think.
DeleteTrobairitz:
ReplyDeleteThe Tiger is "fixed" ? You already installed the part on Friday night ?
Having been to Coffee Culture, it's nice to be able to relate to where your photos are taken. What, no Concours or Vincent today ?
The cooler riding weather is welcomed but after the past few days of record heat, we are back to October temperatures and heavy rain

Riding the Wet Coast
Yes Lucy is fixed. The parts came in the mail on Friday and Brad got it race ready by that evening. He has a blog post started on it, just not ready to post yet.
DeleteNo Concours at Coffee but the Ninja 650 that came later is the same owner. He rides down from Salem for coffee.
How about making it a challenge to find ride-to-eat vegan places (or at least find restaurants with veganizeable options), because we haven't eaten out much lately anymore since I "converted" to meatless.
ReplyDeleteWith a little luck Roland will get his Vespa back this weekend (keep fingers crossed...), and then we will be off on a quest of finding those little gems in order to get prepared should you come visit (hint hint) ;-)
Yeah, a challenge, that's it. It already is a challenge in some areas. I get tired of token veggie burgers or asking them to take the meat, cheese, and bacon off of salads. Thai food is always an easy one, but I get tired of that too.
DeleteVisiting would be great, have the passport, just not the time off and Basil doesn't like house sitters. We tried last year.
We don't have a Triumph dealer so not too many of them around. One friend and neighbor has a new Tiger but he is moving to Florida at the end of the week. I couldn't convince him to "store" the bike with me. He thinks that there are places to ride in Florida...
ReplyDeleteHe won't store the bike with you, that doesn't seem fair. You'd take such good care of it too.
DeleteDoes he like straight lines? That may be all he gets depending on the area.
Nice to see you out riding! Looks like a coolio little coffee venue. If you want vegan 'ride to eats' you should ride up to Victoria, there are lots of yummy places and most do offer vegan courses. Hmmm I think a visits here is in order :)
ReplyDeleteVictoria would be doable on a 3-4 day weekend. We've thought about it, but so far the ferry and boring ride to the ferry have put us off. One day to get there and one day to get back doesn't leave much time for visiting in Victoria.
DeleteIf I had such a cute little coffee shop like that near me, I'd be there every day!! Love this!
ReplyDeleteThe coffee shop is a favorite. It is locally owner and the owner rides a motorcycle as well. They have four little shops in town (one is bigger and they roast their own beans there now)
DeleteIt has a huge table inside that we take over every Saturday. It used to be a donut shop and the big wood table was their bakers table from the kitchen.
They are always super busy since they have a drive thru too. Football game days are especially busy.
That's pretty cute that the motorcycles are basically guarding the little shop.
ReplyDeleteI see the ubiquitous potato vine and coleus combo in the pots!
The plants have really grown over the summer and the colors seem to suit the shop.
DeleteWe try to guard the shop but a lot of weekends there are already cars out front so we part in a different area.
Excellent! Looks like exactly enough bikes. Too many more and it starts getting stressful.
ReplyDeleteAnd hooray for cooler weather! Fall is definitely in the air here. I've got to get new tires on my bike, and quick, before fall weather turns into winter weather...
We've had more people show up on bikes for coffee. (I think over 12 one day in the summer)
DeleteSometimes people ride after but most often not. We all go home to do projects and different things. Every once in a while coffee will be a meeting place for a day ride to the coast though.
I am with you. My back is so messed up, I have been living through everyone else's rides this summer. Besides, its been so darn hot. I am hoping I am able to ride next week. We shall see. I love the spots you all go to up there. So quaint and homelike. They must be able to make you a tomato sandwich or avocado or something so you can enjoy your group. I hope so. Yayyy cooler weather is upon us finally!!1
ReplyDeleteHope your back feels better soon so you can get in a ride or two.
DeleteOur cooler weather is arriving too which is welcome. Soon the pellet stove will be on with it's fan making a terrible racket but the fire will be nice.
Nice size group ....
ReplyDeleteJust the right amount to keep an eye on everyone !
Nice quick read.
Regards
Len
Thanks Len. Much easier to talk to each other when there are only 6 or so of us there. When we get a table of 12-15 it gets a little noisy talking over the espresso makers.
DeleteNow if I was riding past and saw that I would have to stop .. any place with that many bikes out front has to be great .. love that shot!!
ReplyDeleteKnow how you feel bout not riding much .. I was starting to think I'd forget how up til last week .. now I just want more :D
We've had riders stop by because they've seen the bikes out front on Saturdays and wonder what is going on.
DeleteWe're usually there every Saturday unless something else has come up.
Riding to work is all part of the joy of being on two wheels. I can't stand driving when two wheels are an alternative.
ReplyDeleteI usually drive to work as it is easier that suiting up for the 3 mile commute. And for some reason I end up running errands and/or grocery shopping after work.
DeleteI'm guessing the patrons all heard the Trumpets coming , got scared and ran away leaving the place to you bad motorcycle types. Lucky you eh.
ReplyDeleteYeah that's it. We're so bad. Born to be mild......
DeleteCould be just as much fun to make the food to take and ride out for a picnic.
ReplyDeleteNow that sounds like a better idea. If we were smart we'd go for a ride after coffee and have a picnic, but most of the guys have honey do lists or are off for parts unknown with the family.
DeleteSounds like you need to take the long way to work to get some riding in twice a day :)
ReplyDeletegood luck with the food search!
The long way to work in the summer would be great but we have over 17,000 college students who just converged back into town for another year. Traffic isn't pleasant at this point. Mind you we aren't too far from the foothills......
