2012 - IMBC - Day Three - Moto-Bloggers Take Over Joseph

.
Day Three - Sunday July 22, 2012
Moto-Bloggers Take Over Joseph

I don't think Sunday was as much a day of learning as it was a visiting day.  Although we were down two moto-bloggers there were still six of us.

Troubadour and I rode from our hotel in Enterprise to Joseph where Richard and Bobskoot were staying, to park and store our gear for the day.  Richard met us and let us in.  We then wandered over to where he'd left Bobskoot then proceeded to walk around town and take pictures.

(Decorative flower bed at the Indian Lodge Motel)

As we wandered through town Richard pointed out the seven permanent bronze statues that were on almost every street corner.

It was at this point that: *  I learned Bob had been making new friends.  Bob learned it is hard for them to swat your hand away while their hands are full.

(Bob and his new lady love)
I am not sure why the artist gave this statue a six-pack, but: *  I learned I don't mind that they did.

(Yes Ma'am)

(Yee haw)

(I like that they are looking towards the sun)

(Richard enjoying some shade)
At one point we went back to the motel and waited for Karen and Erik to arrive from the campsite and store their gear.  We relaxed outside for a bit and then wandered around town once again.

We even wandered into a few shops.  This is where: *  I learned that in cowboy country they don't just have energy shots - they have "Strut & Rut".  Yeah, that is what it is really called.  I am surprised it isn't jerky or steak favored.  Nope, it's pomegranate.  Go figure.

(Behold the Strut & Rut - ammo for your body)

While in another store, that had hundreds of tin signs on the wall, *  I learned there really is an appropriate sign for everyone.  I put the following up as my profile picture on facebook.  My brother thinks I should have bought it.

(C'est moi)
Some cool cars were driving through town heading somewhere.  I managed to get a picture of one of them zooming by.

(One of several cars out for a Sunday cruise)
My lunch at Mad Mary and Company was a cinnamon scone and iced vanilla soy latte. I am pretty sure the scone was not vegan but I was so hungry I didn't much care.

Apres-lunch we made our way back to the motel.  We sat under the shade and dodged ants and spiders trying crawl up our legs and into our shorts.  *  I learned that will make a few of us jump up from their chairs - me included.

For some reason I left the camera inside while we were visiting so I don't have any pictures of everyone relaxing.  One could say: *  I learned if you don't have the camera on you, you won't take any pictures.

For dinner we headed to Mutiny Brewing Company where I partook of an iced tea and one of only two vegan options on the menu - the hummus plate.  Thank you Troubadour for taking the pic.

(The hummus plate - I was happy to see actual veggies)
After a relaxing dinner, we hastened back to the motel so that Troubadour, Erik, Karen and I could gear up, say our farewells, give hugs all around, and head to our respective campsites and motel in Enterprise before dark.

*  I learned that once again I was sad to say goodbye to old friends and new friends alike.

*  I also learned that moto-bloggers are the greatest group of people and I wish that we could get together and visit more often.

*  I learned that IMBC in 2014 will be bigger and better than ever - and will probably take place in a more Eastern location.

    1. Ha, you're funny Bob. All this time people thought it was the shoulder armor in my jacket, now everyone knows I have wide shoulders like a linebacker.

I think you should be glad your statue can't talk back or smack you.

  2. Love the statues. And I have a feeling that the smile is pretty real, too. The hummus plate looks like it was quite tasty!

    1. My smile......some days yes, some days no. I learned a long time ago to put on my 'candidate' smile when running for rodeo queen. You do enough fashion shows and you learn. Lucky I don't think there is any photo evidence of them.

The smile in the pic was genuine though as I was laughing at the sign. The hummus plate was good. But not as flavorful as I wold have liked. I was just happy to have raw veggies.

  4. You see a sign like that and I am not with you, you buy it!!! How far east will the next get together be?

    1. Maybe they'll ship a sign. Either that or we have another road trip in our future. Feel like a 1000 mile weekend on Bella?

I don't know how far East. Someone mentioned Denver.........

  5. Hummus and pita. My world would fall a part without hummus and pita. With two vegan dishes on the menu no wonder "mutiny" is in their name.

Thanks for the post, and...yes, how far east will that be?

    1. I too love hummus. Trader Joes has the greatest selection. Edamame hummus and even eggplant hummus is very tasty. I've tried to make it but I don't have a good enough food processor to get it smooth.

I think everyone is open to suggestions on where to hold the next IMBC. I think in 2014. If everyone suggests something we can always do a poll.

    1. You've been hiding a six-pack and never told us? LOL

  7. Okay - Diamond Rio says it all... "Meet me in the Middle." What do you say? There must be a hole in the earth that would be challenging enough(or you mountain folk could take on a new kind of, endurance, challenge),and prarrie enough to make the others of us happy. (And if that statue could only talk ... back, Bob would have had a tongue lashing for sure.)

    1. Motorcycle 'A' leaves Kingston, Ontario at 6 am on a Tuesday, motorcycle 'B' leaves Corvallis, Oregon at 7 am on Wednesday, where and when will these two riders cross paths. Sounds too much like math problems and it has been way too long since I was in school.

I think any suggestions for a location is welcome. I think it has been close to the west coast as that is where the planners seem to be. Someone further east needs to take the reigns to get it closer to their home. Cue evil grin. If you plan it they will come.

    2. Doesn't that put it somewhere in northern Alberta? (just trying to get it a bit closer)

      Delete
    3. Northern Alberta? Does that even have twisties or is is all pasture land? Mind you if you are close enough to the Rockies the passes will have corners. Otherwise the only corners in Alberta have stop signs on them.

    4. Corners are supposed to have stop signs aren't they? Hmmm, maybe I'm a Flatlander.

    5. Some corners yes- the ones we want to ride without stopping, no.

  8. Hello, that six-pack statue is just right up my alley. Nice! Cowboy-Land is still good for some surprises. Real veggies, and bonus: not fried!
I wish we could have been with you guys, relaxing, chatting and just doing nothing for a change...

    1. Yes, the non-fried dinner was a bonus. Wish you and Roland could have been there too, but we understand you needing two days to get home. You had quite a ways to go.

Oh, and I think I've found a way to get a semi-good vegan breakfast in cowboy country. Ask for veggie omelet with no eggs and no cheese, extra veggies. This should get you sauted veggies with a side of hashbrowns - then ask for dry toast so you don't get the dairy butter. Wish I had of thought of that in Baker City.

    2. It might work, or again.... Your strategy reminds me of the scene from Five Easy Pieces:

    3. The trouble with Strut & Rut is that the pomegranate seeds get lodged between my teeth.

Bob seems like he could handle it though (dentists are far better in BC)

  10. I've been out of the scene for a bit so missed all this excitment as you posted it, so I spent the morning catching up. Wow looks like it was such a fun trip!! Thanks for sharing Brandy :)

How much fun is it to catch up with people who you dont see too often, or even have never met in the flesh before, and spend time with them doing the things you all love! Awsome stuff!!

  12. Been meaning to ask for a while. What is "a visiting day" or "visiting"? It isn't an expression that I have heard here Down Under.
I do like the photo of you with the sign. I have a friend that could get away with having that sign.

    1. Visiting - dictionary on my iMac says to visit is to: 'go and see and spend time with socially'. When you visit with someone you just hang out and enjoy their company.

Visiting is just all encompassing for hanging out and chatting and getting to know each other and catching up on old times. Telling stories, etc. 'Shooting the breeze' so to speak.

The sign has been popular. I know a few people that could use it.

  13. Oilburner and I partook of the 5 hour energy drinks on this trip. But I don't think I could have even attempted to try something called Strut and Rut. No way! Well...thinking of the cowboy statue...hhmmmm...

Sounds Iike a vice down day to enjoy company and talks. Can't always be looking at bikes. Hehe

    1. I can't do energy shots. Hubby tried a part of one once and they made him feel horrible. I'll stick with espresso.

We could see the bikes from the yard where we were relaxing does that count?
