I took quite a few pictures of the Stayton-Jordan covered bridge in Marion County on Tuesday as well as several at the park where it rests.
I thought I'd share.

This bridge is also known as the Salem Power Canal covered bridge.

The bridge is located in a beautiful park setting. When standing in the middle of the road you can look one way to this view:

And look the other way towards the bridge.
While Troubadour was setting up the tripod for the kissing montage I wandered a bit and took some photos of the park and it's inhabitants.

From here we saddled up and meandered our way west across the Willamette Valley towards Corvallis and home.

ReplyDeleteYears, and years ago my wife and I went rambling in the countryside here in search of covered bridges. None were in the tip-top shape of that one. Then again, I don't think any of ours got the TLC that bridge got.
This one is in great shape because they had to re-build it due to fire. Although I am impressed at how well preserved most of them are around here.

Yeppers pedestrian use only. That is why we couldn't get the bikes any closer. There is a really nice walking path to it and when you get over it walking paths into the woods and over the other little foot bridge into the park

ReplyDeleteIt looks so peaceful there. I think I would like to just have lunch, relax and do nothing for a few hours looking at the ducks. I am also drawn to those large tree trunks .

It would have been great to have lunch there, but we'd already eaten. It sure was pretty. Fairly quiet too as it is a little off the beaten path.

So close yet I've not visited the Stayton Jordan Bridge. I do remember the bridge in it's original location outside of Scio. like the grove of trees. So majestic and serene. One of the reasons I love our forests is scenes like this.

We'd only ever driven through Stayton and not taken any side streets. Well Meg and I did the 5k in Satyton but we didn't really do any exploring.
DeleteI really was interested to see where the walking paths went but it was almost dinner time and we have full gear on.
