Flower Powered Honda

A few months ago we were wandering through the Honda/BMW dealer in Salem and saw what I thought was a pretty cool custom seat on a CBR.

(Flowered powered CBR)
If I remember the story correctly the seat was a custom one made for the wife of one of the salesmen. When she bought a new bike she put her old CBR on consignment but the person who bought it did not want the custom seat so they swapped it for a stock seat on a new bike.  This resulted in a new CBR having this way cool, far out man, custom seat.

(Way cool - far out man- flower power)
Too bad max wouldn't look cool rocking flower power.  I think that would be a little much. He already has to contend with the 1" tall Smurfette on the radiator cover as it is.

  1. Cool, Dude, COOL!

Love the Smurfette! You would have loved the Piaggio BV250 scooter that I saw last summer with a big ol' Smurf plastered on the seat!

I shoulda taken a photo for ya!

    1. I was looking for a retro Smurfette plush toy from the 80's but couldn't find any and they are too different now days.

  2. Love the flowered seat! That would be a fun way to add a feminine touch to my bike! But I think hubby thinks I need engine guards and boots first!

    1. Probably a good idea to be prudent and get the boots and engine guard first. Sigh. That is how it goes as we get older, air on the side of responsibility. Function over frosting hubby would say.

I have photos of your smurfette ! taken in Baker City.

I am envious of your photos. I cannot use the "insert image" icon because after 2 images I do not get the resize bar. All I want to do is to write some text and then post an Xtra-large photo but I can't do it and getting frustrated. When I see your post with more than 2 photos and they are all Xtra-large I feel inadequate. Something so simple, but not so simple for me. Sorry for venting, right now I just feel like giving up . . . I am wasting so much time trying to get the Blogger interface to work and I don't feel like doing it anymore

Dongle, dongle, dongle, dangle, dangling . . . OKay, I am feeling better now. Not so much earlier today. I didn't get much sleep thinking about this. You know how much I love photos. Just as much as you love photos. A blog without photos is Nothing. It's bad enough that I am losing 5 years of effort . . .

anyway, I just did some testing using Firefox and I was able to size each photo to Xtra-large using the Blogger pop-up menu. I selected 8 photos and it all worked. I even selected a few from my hard drive, and it worked too, I got the menu and could select Xtra-Large. Just have to see if it works at home

    2. I remember you taking pictures of the Smurfette because you caught sight of it in a picture and didn't know what it was.

Glad Firefox seems to be working for you. Hope you had the same luck from home.

  4. Not sure if I'm too much of a fan of the flowered seat. I think it would look better if it was more understated such as just contrasting stitching and not contrasting panels. It's all a matter of taste.

    1. Contrasting stitching is a great idea. I wonder how long before the thread would get dirty and blend in with the black seat though.

  5. I love the Smurfette. The flower seat is okay. Not sure I'd want one. Now, if they were frogs...

    1. Now frogs would be way cool. There is a challenge for an upholstery guy.

  7. These flowers remind me of those horrid sticky things you put in the tub or shower. So do those seat flowers keep you from sliding off???? ;^P

    1. Sure, I thought it was cool for a second, now all I can think about is tub stick ons, lol. You've shattered my reality, but that is okay. Would be funny if they were tacky so that you wouldn't slide off.

  8. How fun!! That seat would look great on my white Zooty BMW! My BMW has a lizard zip-tied to the handlebars. He's been there ever since a group of us met in Moab UT for a week of riding back in 2009. He gets lots of comments. Your smurfette probably does, too. :-)

    1. I can see how a lizard would get comments. It is nice ot add a little flair to the bikes. I don't get a lot of comments on it, but hubby might when he rides it, lol.

  9. I like the individuality of the floral seat. Not to my taste, but I enjoy it when others do. Smurfette always just adds to the atmosphere. Hehe

    1. I chose Smurfette because I usually wear two braids when riding and the old 80's Smurfette plush toys, Smurfette actually had yellow braids made of yarn. Nowadays she just has plush yellow hair and it isn't the same.

Also because when we are out riding, unless SpartanBabe is with us I'm usually the only girl. Same for Saturday morning coffee, usually the only girl in amongst the guys, so Smurfette seemed appropriate.

  10. I like the seat...of course, I've been accused of having a fuzzy black toilet seat cover on my scooter. Oh well. Smurfette on the other hand is a definite hit, altho I don't think I'll be adding her to my ride :)

    1. Fuzzy black toilet seat, that is funny. I guess if they don't ride, most people don't understand about the seat covers for bikes. No Smurfette for you hey, maybe a Jokey Smurf?

  11. Go on Brandy, I could see you riding max with a floral seat. It's not my cup of tea.

    1. Well if I was riding it, you wouldn't be able to see the floral seat, lol. Kidding. I like the flowers except now, thanks to Martha, all I can think of is those tub sticky things.

I guess there are flowers on my helmet and mesh jacket. Egads. Girly but not pink so I am okay with that.

    1. Does this mean you need orange flowers on the seat of the Ural or tiger?

  13. Smurfette 1, tub flowers 0. Really, once you sit on it ... At least with the little blue gal, if you look close, you can see her. If someone can see the flowers under your butt they're just way too close.

    1. I agree, no way should they see the flowers while you are sitting, lol. I did think it was funny that there are three flowers, one under each butt bone and ..........lets say - one at the front.
