Take Your Bike to Work Day

Today was the 23rd Annual International Ride to Work Day.

And yes, I rode to work.  I know it is only 3 miles and hardly worth suiting up for, but this is the one day a year I am guaranteed to ride to work, rain or shine.  It was overcast and a balmy 51˚F (10.5˚C) this morning.  Not too chilly at all.  I did put the rain liner in just in case since it had been raining just before I left the house.

And here is the obligatory picture of Max in the parking lot.  He looks quite bright against the dreary office building.  The brown door in the background is the back door to the office, so at least parking is close.

(Max at work -  in my reserved parking spot)

(Not a glamorous location)
The ride home was pretty mellow, sunny and 68˚F (20˚C).  Traffic was nice and light since school is already out for summer in these parts.

I know some moto-bloggers, such as Troubadour, Redlegs Rides, Did He Ride Today, and Everyday Riding ride to work day in and day out on their two and three-wheeled machines.  I am sure riding to work is just part of routine for them, but  ......  did anyone else ride to work today?

  2. I didn't go to work today. Woo hoo!
Oh, and 10.5C? It is winter here and hasn't gotten that cold overnight yet.....

    1. Nice that you had a day off.

Another few days and we'll have our first day of summer. Still spring for a few more. A few weeks ago when our temps were in the 80's we were still getting down into the 40's at night. Single digits in Celsius.

    1. With as much as you ride on the weekends, I think the world will understand.

    1. Good idea taking the long way to work.

I took the direct route because of the iffy weather and trying to beat downtown traffic that never materialized.

Didn't know about it. Dusted off the bike, checked the tires and rode to work today in Lieu of . . .
Does this count ? Yesterday had to go grocery shopping after work and it was just easier that way.

I recognize that lane ! A few weeks ago ScooterChick was wondering why I was cruising the lanes of Corvallis. Two of my vehicles have made it to your rear door . . . one more to go. Sort of like playing photo tag

    1. It's the thought that counts right? I run enough errand after work, it is one of the reasons I too take the car more often than not.

So which two have been to the office the Strom and the 'Vette? You know you are allowed to knock and say hi, right?

Unfortunately it would be at least summer 2015 when Nu2Me can get there, but it's possible for an encore in the "Vette next September. You mean, I can knock on your door ?

    3. Yes, you can knock on the back door, you never know who might answer though. Here's a secret - we have front door and you can just waltz in there too. :-)

  6. Yep, did ride to work (like almost every day). Not detour today due to threatening black clouds in the sky. Got home just in time before it started raining cats and dogs.

    1. It is good that you can ride to work almost every day. Is your commute long?

    2. Depends, Brandy. On the weather and the time of the day (I detour...). It's 21km (13 miles) one way.

    3. That sounds like a good distance even when not detouring. At least it is worth suiting up for.

  7. Rode to work freezing in the early morning chill in my mesh jacket; took the long way home as the sun came out and 21 degC made it nice.

    1. It is the time of year when layering is a must. Freeze in the morning and peeling off layers in the afternoon. It was 46˚F (7.7˚C) this morning when Brad left for work at 5 am, and it is forecast to be 79˚F (26˚C) for his commute home.

    2. By the way, your blog photo of Max is real cool - but wouldn't your topbox look good in matching colours,,,maybe some chequers?

    3. Thanks El D. I dunno about chequers on the top box, do you think that'd be too much? Less is more perhaps.

And Bob - no, too flashy, lol.

    1. Good for you Brenda for riding all week. Not sure when I'll ride to work again. Thought about tomorrow but I am off at noon and heading for groceries. Can't get many in my top box.

  9. Yes, I rode to work.
Just because I live on my bike, it still counts, right? ;)

    1. Of course it counts, because you ride everywhere.

  10. My commute is far too short. 😉 And, sadly, I've been far too busy at the office to sneak out for a ride. I should start putting rides on the work calendar.

    1. You work from home don't you? Can you schedule a ride on your lunch break. Early morning ride then come back and work?
