Moto-Blogger Food Porn Humor

I saw the following picture come up on Facebook and I had to laugh as it made me think of all the motor bloggers out there who post food porn pictures.

I am as guilty of this as the next person and to prove it I shall share a picture of my lunch from Native Foods Cafe in Bridgeport Village.  SpartanBabe and I went there after our 5k on Saturday.

(Super Italian "Meatball" Sub with dill potato salad - Native Foods Cafe)
I have been to Native Foods a few times before, but this was SpartanBabe's first time.  I think she liked it too.

The Super Italian Meatball Sub is described as follows:  Native Sausage Seitan meatballs, marinara sauce, caramelized onions, roasted sweet peppers, pumpkin seed pesto, ranch dressing and Native Parmesan on a warm grilled baguette.

It was so good.  Anything I have tried is great there.  If you find yourself near a Native Foods Cafe, do your taste buds a favor and give it a try.

Oh, and don't forget to take a picture.

  1. I just looked up the Native Foods Restaurant site and there's one in CO. I'll be in CO soon and I will try to stop there! Thanks for the tip! I'll take one of each, especially the Saigon Roll!

    1. I linked their menu on the photo caption. Their food is awesome. It may be vegan but I can't say it is healthy or low calorie. Worth a stop though.

  2. Hehe, that cartoon is just made for you. I never remember to take a pic til the food is at least half demolished.

    1. Sometimes I remember and sometimes I don't. I just happened to have the camera in my purse and put it on the table so it would be out and remind me when the food arrived.

  3. Hey wait a minute that's not a vegan meal. Whats going on, This is outrageous! Have you turned to the dark side?

    1. Hate to disappoint you but the entire menu/restaurant is 100% vegan.

They are just so good at what they do it doesn't look like what people think typical vegan food looks like. The 'meatballs' are not made of meat they are made of seitan. Plant based protein and oh so tasty.

    1. It is a good thing they are 90 miles from our place or I am sure we'd be there too often. Meg and I were lucky, they were running a little slow so we got free dessert too. Man did we eat too much. Good thing we'd gone for that run. Then Brad and I hiked over 4 miles yesterday.

    2. Good on you. We walked 3 miles last night. It was lovely although there is a little chill in the air.

    3. Good job on your walk last night. We were too lazy and didn't make it out. Probably tonight as the weather is a little warmer today.

  5. Trobairitz:

your meal looks delicious. There was a time that I wouldn't try anything new but I think I would have ordered that too. Small steps . . . I bought my first "Blue Diamond" Almond breeze expecting the worst, but it actually tasted quite good. (No soy + lactose free), I had problems with a Soy drink before even though I love ToFu.

    1. It was tasty. I am glad you liked the almond milk. I am not a fan of it myself. Mainly because I like to put it in coffee and it doesn't taste great to me that way. Luckily I don't have a sensitivity to soy so I can use unsweetened soy milk.

  6. Not guilty! Though the truth is that I usually forget to take pictures. Plus I deleted my Instagram account when they were bought by Facebook.

    How was the 5K?

    1. I don't use instagram nor would I even know how so I am not guilty of that and I don't post food pics to facebook, but I do post them on blogger quite often.

The 5k was fun. We jogged most of it which I didn't expect. First mile in 12 minutes and the last two miles were 14.5 minutes each. It was a good time and I'd definitely do it again. Was a little sore Sunday but then Brad and I went on a big hike to the top of Bald Hill. Not sure if that made it better or worse as it was close to 5 miles round trip from the house.

  7. It looks delicious! I have never been to Native Foods, although there is at least one in Chicago: worth it?

    1. I think there is more than one in Chicago. Well wort the trip and wold fall into the casual chain restaurants you were testing out. Be adventurous and go to an all vegan restaurant for one meal.

    2. I didn't even know they were a vegan restaurant...

  9. What's the brownish bit at the near-end of the bread?

    1. I believe the brownish stuff on the end of the bread is some of the pumpkin seed pesto.

The yellow flakes on the 'meatballs' and on the plate is part of the nutritional yeast based parmesan.

  10. LOL - I think we need to do a post on all the "too late, I already ate it" photos. I think I have more of those than nice artsy food shots!

    1. That would be funny. If I've already eaten part of it I just say 'screw it' and don't take any pictures though. I don't think I've taken any half way through ones.

  11. Brandy,
How come you Americans are so darned good at snapping food porn? I wouldn't even dream of competing! Good job I read this post with dinner only a few minutes away!

    1. I think we are a food-centric people, lol.

I keep getting hungry every time I see this pictures, then I remember how darn full I was after eating it all and that cures it.

  12. As i'm sure you've seen, I like my food. I'm always getting slagged off by my mates for taking photos of my meals.
I don't think I could ever give up my meat, never mind do the vegan thing though. I'll need to try a few recipes.

    1. I have seen Mike, and that is okay, I like food too. I enjoy seeing the food pictures on blogs, especially because people eat such different things all over the world.
