Day sixteen in the 29 in 29 photo adventure.
More often than not when I walk to the post office or bank from my work, I see this motorcycle parked in the exact same spot. I went looking for it a week or so ago on a nice sunny day and it wasn't there. Monday it was and I happened to have my camera in my pocket. I don't know its story or who owns it, but it sure is a pretty color blue.

That's a lovely blue and isn't that a nice brick building I see in the background?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, check my marthahoughtalingtenney.blogspot.com site for the photo today. Look familiar?
It is a brick building. I didn't notice it until I was reviewing the pic. Good of you to notice it.
DeleteI love Heceta Head. I like taking pics of the lighthouse. I haven't toured it or the house but have heard it is haunted. I have family that lived in Florence for over 20 years and they told me stories about it. Nice old pic.
A pretty colour indeed. So, you aren't the only one taking pictures from innocent bikes...
ReplyDeleteI lurk when walking around downtown. Always on the lookout for bikes.
DeleteCan't figure out how to dig my camera out of pocket fast enough to catch the moving ones though. It has been too chilly to just hold the camera in my bare hands for too long and juggle the mail for work.
It really is a pretty blue. Is it a Vstar?? I see so many sad little bikes not being ridden and just parked along side the road. There is one poor little scooter nestled by trashcans :( Quite often when I see a bike with a cover on it I am almost tempted to peek under to see whats hiding, but then I know the owner would probably be watching and come out and give me heck, so I resist the urge. On a blog here on the island a few people are complaining about complete strangers sitting on their bikes when they are parked downtown. They come out from their errand only to find some doofus sitting astride their bike. I would never ever do that in fact it leaves me flabbergasted that someone would think its an okay thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a Yamaha, but not sure of the exact make and model. Didn't want to get too close.
DeleteI'd never ever think to sit on someone's bike without asking, even if I knew the owner. Sheesh, some people's manners.

ReplyDeleteYou need to do more street photography. Put your mail in a backpack to leave your hands free, plus the bonus is you don't drop any along the way. I hang my camera around my neck, but under my jacket so it is not normally visible. (street people don't like cameras) You could also have your camera in your hand, but in your pocket holding it. Press the ON button as you bring it out.
During the summer I hang a camera around my neck as a prop, not to be used. Everyone thinks you are a tourist but you take photos using the small camera in your hand "without" aiming. Just shoot "from the hip". Eventually you will get used to framing without looking. If you have a manual camera, set to shutter priority 250s to stop action and prevent blur
When we were down for IMBC2010, SonjaM and myself went to the gate but $10. each was too much to pay for a photo. We didn't have time to dilly dally and had to make our way back to Canada.

My walk to the post office is only 2-3 blocks away, doesn't seem right to put a few pieces of work mail in a backpack. My problem is I need to slow down some. I usually walk quite briskly, just ask Brad.
DeleteIf I could figure out how to hook a lanyard to my little cannon, the around the neck thing might work. Of course if my camera was just in my pocket and not in a case in my pocket I could pull it out faster.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know you worked in a lab. I also worked in a lab hand developing B&W film, the I learned how to make my own prints. I still have all my stuff, and enlargers but they just sit there, getting dusty.
your camera should have a small strap loop, Good for taking photos while riding, like BlueKat . . . You can drop it in a flash if you have to react to something fast.

Believe it or not I was the Assistant Manager for the Japan Camera store in Penticton. That was a long time ago. And then when we lived in Creston I worked for a little studio/photo developing lab. It was fun. I tell you people take some interesting photos. It is like they didn't understand that we had to look at every photo.
DeleteI don't think I am coordinated enough to take pics while riding. You know I am a klutz right?
Nice capture.
ReplyDeleteWe have a similar bike here in Lebanon. Always parked near the video store, a very nice Vulcan Tourer. It's always shiny and clean even though I've seen it out on rainy days. Same thing, I don't know the story or who the rider is.
I don't understand how they can be out all the time and be that clean. The owners must have too much time on their hands. Max is in a nice garage and he is far from clean.
DeleteI apologize to anyone who has commented in the last few weeks and their comments haven't shown up. I went digging through the dashboard tonight andfound where Blogger had a spam filter. Out of the ten comments stuck in limbo only three were actual spam.
ReplyDeleteI think comments from the following bloggers were stuck there, but should all be posted now: Andrew, Bluekat, Dar, and Sonja.
I will try and make a mental note to check it now that I know where it is. I was getting emails notifying me of the comments, but them the comments were not appearing.
Argh! I just posted over at Bob's about the same thing, comments that aren't there! I've had several too.
ReplyDeleteI have done nothing but fight with computers all day today-Grrrr. At least the one at work I can turn over to the IT guy!
Okay, off to check my stoopid, annoying, spam filter thing & see if I find the same.
btw, thanks for figuring this out and posting up! :)
You are welcome.
DeleteGo to your dashboard, then click 'comments' and one of the little tabs besides 'published' is 'spam' and it had a number (10) by it. That is where you find it and see if there is anything there. I didn't even know about that little tab.
Glad I could help.
That is a pretty. Not too bright, not too dark. You'll have to keep your eye out for the owner.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me think of a denim blue. I pass it all the time walking to the post office and have for a few years and have never seen the owner. Must arrive after I get to the office.
