27 for the #29in29

.
Day twenty-seven in the 29 in 29 photo adventure.

Yesterday after breakfast Troubadour suggested walking downtown. I thought that sounded nice so we put on some rain gear (it was sprinkling when we left) and headed out for a nice 6-7 mile walk.

Our route takes us through campus and into downtown. We walk right by Central Park.  There are a couple pieces of artwork on display by the park.  The following little ballerina is one of them.

(The Ballerina - not usually sporting Mardi Gras beads)

The Ballerina is a sculpture by Raymond Hunter.  It was the first piece of public artwork placed on Madison Avenue back in 1983.

  1. I have almost the same picture (sans beads). It's taking quite a while to visit all of the sites posting daily photos but it has been pretty entertaining. Thank you.

    1. I guess the beads on the ballerina weren't too bad. It is a college town so it could have been worse.

And it has been hard keeping up on reading all the blogs. What will I do with my free time when the 29in29 ends?

  2. I love beautiful statues in scenic park settings. I have to get on foot a little bit more. It was an interesting day yesterday. Brilliantly sunny and then almost snowing the next minute. Hope yours wasn't as chilly.

    1. It wasn't great weather yesterday, but it didn't really start raining until we were part way home. I like wandering around campus and looking at all the neat buildings.

I actually don't mind walking in the rain. I find it refreshing as long as it's not chilly. I just have to keep my camera covered.

    1. I too prefer a warm rain. It wasn't too awfully cold yesterday but it wasn't warm either. I think it was in the low 40's F.

I kept my camera in my pocket and just pulled it out every so often. Our walk took longer than expected due to picture taking.

  4. She looks like she would make a great lunch partner! What a pretty setting.

I've enjoyed going back a few days to catch up on your posts. I'm going to hate when February is over and everybody quits posting pics every day!

    1. When we first moved to town I used to have lunch there in the summer time. Then the park was over run with undesirables so I don't go there much anymore.

It will be weird to see fewer posts after the 29in29 is over. I will try to post more often than I used to too.

actually I was thinking of changing my format a bit. Instead of long ones with lots of photos, a few interspersed with a photo and a paragraph, something like on photo blogs.

    3. That is a good idea Bob.

I can be a little long winded when doing ride reports.

  5. The beads absolutely suit her - she looks like a free spirit who might have fun on two wheels if she wasn't frozen in her pose.
I commend you all for your 29 in 29 ... don't know how you have managed to keep up to it all but I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

    1. I think you are correct, she does look like a free spirit.

Thanks on the 29in29 comment, glad you enjoyed it. It hasn't been easy every day but I've managed to do it. Almost done.

  6. Lovely sculpture. I hope it stays that way. I have often seen statues damaged though paint or other kinds of destruction.

Is it getting greener in your neck of the woods? It snowed up here yesterday...

    1. I think it is one of my favorite sculptures in town. Luckily the town usually sees graffiti but folks don't seem to be harming the sculptures.

Things are all green here. We don't go brown in the winter. The first winter we were here people called it Oregon Green. At first I thought they were crazy but now I know it is from all the rain. Whenever we get a dry day the lawn mowers are going. Our grass needs to be cut so bad but the rains haven't stopped long enough.

  7. Cool shots. Rainy days actually make for better pics anyway. You walked 6-7 miles? Wow. I don't get out nearly enough.

    1. Thanks. Yeah, I think it is about 3 miles to downtown and we walked around down there a bit. When we go for walks in the evening our route is 4 miles, but when we walk in the daylight on the weekends we try to go further.
