25/29 for the #29in29

.
Day twenty-five in the 29 in 29 photo adventure.
.
I have been trying to take some pictures of Basil to show his size.  Just a few that might indicate just how big of a cat he really is.  I thought one way to do this might be to take a picture of him in different spots so there were items for reference.

(Sitting on the back of the big chair)

(Lying on the back of the big chair - giant white paws)

(Snuggling with Troubadour on the sofa)

(Drinking out of the sink rather than his bowl)
.
I didn't think any of these depicted his size accurately so I dug through iPhoto and found a picture of me holding him. I think this is the only picture we have of him being held since he was a kitten. Basil does not like to be picked up.

This was taken about 2 years ago and he isn't even stretched out to his full length.

    1. Ha, thank you. I've lost a good 15 lbs since that photo so hopefully they legs are even better now, lol. Surprising what is hiding under all that riding gear isn't it?

    1. He is a big kitty. 16 lbs of scaredy cat.

I haven't tried the kilt on since losing a few pounds so I am hoping it still fits.

  3. I probably missed this, but is he a Maine Coon? Beautiful!

    1. He was a stray a co-worker of Troubadour's found as a couple month old kitten. Due to his size and looks we are thinking he is either part Maine Coon or part Norwegian Forest Cat. There is some big breed in him.

The vet said he would never be a 9 lb cat, that his structure is just too big.

  4. That Basil is one big, beautiful boy...and fluff right down to the toes!

    1. He does have fluffy toes. Good thing we don't ever get too much snow or he'd have ice stuck to his paws in the winter.

    1. Yeppers. I chuckle when I visit my mom because her cat seems so small compared to Basil.

  6. He is so gorgeous, and so elegant in that first pic.
In the 2nd photo, well I would want to mess with him! That is a seriously scary expression!

The last is great for comparison. (Love the kilt, btw). Yeah, he doesn't look like a cuddly kind of cat! lol

    1. He definitely lets you know when he has had enough picture taking and only likes to snuggle on his terms. His terms being don't pick him up.

If we are on the sofa he'll come flop beside us and snuggle and occasionally will lay on Troubadour's lap but that is about it. Unless I'm having a bubble bath, he likes to come in and sit on the toilet lid so I can give him a good head scratch then he drinks out of the tub. He knows I am a captive audience at that point. Funny critter.

  7. He is one big kitty! I think he could clean my poochie's clock in a heart beat. I think my favorite picture is where he is snuggling with Troubadour. Basil has the prettiest eyes.

    1. He has pretty eyes when he is batting them begging for tuna.

When he is mad you have to watch out if he gives you the stink eye. Much like he is doing in the pic on my sidebar.

    1. They say the camera adds 10 pounds. I think gear adds another 15 on top of that, lol. When wearing ATGATT I will always look a little chunky, lol.
